7) Supplemental Recruitment Initiatives.  List and briefly describe the Supplemental Recruitment Initiatives undertaken during the period covered by this Report.

(a)     Initiative: Career and Internship Fairs

(b)     Initiative: Internship Program

EU’s Promotions department is in charge of recruiting for an extensive internship program.  EU recruits interns on an on-going basis.  Interns must receive academic credit for internships.  The internship program is designed to assist students to acquire skills needed for broadcast employment.

Interns are recruited by contacting the following Universities/Colleges:  Syracuse University, Onondaga Community College, Rochester Institute of Technology, SUNY Morrisville, SUNY ESC, LeMoyne College, Bryant & Stratton, St. Bonaventure, SUNY Oswego, SUNY Brockport, SUNY Albany, and SUNY Buffalo.

In the past four months Cumulus Syracuse hosted a total of 3interns in the following departments:

Promotions (interns)

Interns in the Promotions Department at EU assist and report to the Marketing Director and Promotions Coordinator.  The interns help with office duties like planning and preparing for events and help at on-site events.

Intern 1:  January 2012 thru May 2012   – Tekesha Hanson  – Morrisville State College

Intern 2:  January 2012 thru May 2012  –  John McCoy – SUNY Oswego

 

Programming (interns)

 

Interns in the Programming Department report tothe station Program Director.  Interns assist with production of on air content, call screening, producing station content, setting up on air interviews, and delivering on air content.

Intern 1:  December 2011 thru April 2012  – Kate Kowitski – SUNY Oswego

 

(c)     Initiative: EEO Outreach   

 

Each radio station ran ads encouraging women, minority, educational, and other employment outreach centers in the community to contact the radio stations to be added to our list of job postings.
